Christmas Stockings

Published by Kristen on

When we were expecting our son, we decided that Christmas Day was a perfect time to tell everyone. So we thought it would be fun to show a picture of our tree with three stockings instead of two. Since we didn’t have any stockings, I got the crazy idea that I would make them myself even though I had no clue how to sew at the time.

Christmas Stockings

I found a stocking pattern on the internet, took the bit of fabric that we used to wrap around the pillars at our wedding [below] and used Steam-A-Seam to adhere the edges. This ended up making the stockings very blocky, because Steam-A-Seam was never meant to be used in this way, nor in rounded edges, but it worked for what I needed. Plus, I was really sick with the pregnancy, and wasn’t about to try to figure out another method! To hang it I found some tree ribbon that we never ended up using and hot glued it to the edge of the stocking and tied it to the banister. We are still using these 4 years later, but someday there will hopefully be a post with a new and improved version now that I can sew :)
